Position: Senior Dev-Ops Engineer

Location: Redwood City, CA

Duration: 6+ Months

 

Client is looking for a Senior Dev-Ops Engineer, who is an expert at setting up cloud based infrastructure and tuning applications to meet Operational SLAs. Specifically, immediate projects revolve around:

 

•        Semantic Web and Semantic Information Retrieval.

 

•        Analytics and Machine Learning to be able to identify data patterns and execute appropriate classification.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 

•        Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science.

 

•        At least 7 or more years of experience delivering highly scalable complex enterprise architectures and systems.

•        Expert with setting up and managing/monitoring Cloud-Based Technologies: o AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, SES, IAM, Elastic Scaling, Elastic Map-Reduce) o And/Or Rackspace.

 

•        Part developer and part Systems engineer who can help architect and implement tuned applications that deliver operational SLAs. The solutions

would involve:

 

•   MySQL, MongoDB, Map-Reduce and Hadoop Ecosystem (HDFS, Pig etc.) on the persistence end.

 

o   Java and/or Ruby/Python Based Harvesting and Analytics Compute Clusters.

 

•        Experience with

o   Web-Crawling/Harvesting techniques to convert unstructured web content into highly structured semantic data.

 

o   Machine Learning/ Analytics (Clustering, Distance and Similarity - Nearest-K, Neural Nets, Bayesian Classifiers for example).

 

•        Programming languages: Must be an expert at Shell Scripting and Sed/Awk etc. Professional-grade fluency with any 2 of Java, Python, Ruby, Perl, R.

•        Startup Experience required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•       Work with the team to understand requirements. Articulate approaches and zero in on chosen design.

•       Implementation responsibility.

•       Work with Development engineers to ensure that the implementation meets operational SLAs and is “operationally friendly” and “cloud ready”.
