Duration: 4 - 5 month

 

Summary:
Our Client has BI and Sales Portal in a Federated network environment currently running 7.0 in a Windows environment. Our client wants to go to Linux and upgrade to 7.3 SPS 8 or the latest available Support Pack. This position has a Basis and Technical Components Focus.

 

 

SAP Portal Required Experience:

 

- Need an excellent resource who has done this kind of upgrade before.

- Should be able to find the dependencies needed for SAP and BI and work independently.

- Have experience in setting up Kerbros, Dispatcher, SSO, Broadcasting,

 

 

Essential Functions :

 

- Portal Upgrade

- Upgrade current Portal environment 7.0 to 7.3. Currently we are running windows and want to migrate to Linux so experience needed with 7.3 with Linux is required
- Should be able to install/configure Portal in a Federated Network environment
- Should be able to configure Kerbros, Dispatcher, SSO and experience with Federated Portal is required
- Recommend, apply, and test fixes to ensure leading practice performance
- Perform performance tuning on the installed SAP BI JAVA for BI portal as per SAP recommendations.
- Fine tune JVM settings on the SAP J2EE engine.
- Fine tune the configuration and performance of the SAP web dispatcher.
- Revisit and possibly fine tune the Federated Portal Landscape for any synchronization and caching issues.
- Explore the option to either add additional server processes or more dispatcher nodes using additional server processes and JAVA Dialog instances.
- Configure Portal runtime based on Best Practices.
- Configure Portal Content Directory for performance based on Best Practices
- Configure PCD cache.
- Determine any additional fine tuning required at the OS level and/or Db level
- Submit OSS messages and/or research and apply OSS notes or patches recommended by SAP
- Define proper Basis, BI, and Portal team monitoring processes KT to enable EBS to do ongoing performance reviews

 

- Excel 2010

- Enable Portal broadcasting of reports via Excel 2010
- Enable Portal "download to Excel" capability to Excel 2010

 

- Pre-Calculation Server

- Set-up capability in Development, QA, Production to pre-calculate BI reports via standard default capabilities
- Enable capability to schedule distribution of reports in a single Excel 2007 workbook with multiple tabs

 

- Support Pack Stack - Planning, research, download, testing for all 6 of EBS portal environments
- Define overall approach, SPS dependencies, and make recommendations regarding best path forward for our portal environment going forward
- Define prepare steps, test scenarios, and apply to sandbox environment with goal to establish repeatable script for Dev, QA, Production
