Title: UI / UX Designer/Developer
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 5+months
Position Functions and Responsibilities:
This role is for a talented web UI visual designer and web developer, who is passionate about building dynamic user interfaces and experiences that are engaging, functional and fun. The right candidate will be part of a collaborative team creating new UI business solution ideations and interactive visual concepts, as well producing UX requirements, visual designs, and production-ready high-fidelity web prototypes for various existing client projects.
Primary responsibilities of the candidate will include:
- Iterative creation of visual designs and web prototypes to support business concept development for the client
- Translation of business and UX requirements into high fidelity pixel-perfect visual designs, branding, and interactive prototypes, in support of on-going client software projects
- Testing and support of production-ready web prototypes, for both requirements and production development iterations
- Support for usability testing software and data collection tools as needed
- Project estimation of visual design, web prototyping, and production development support
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Solid experience in creation and documenting of pixel-perfect UI visual design comps, including branding
- Skill in creation and rapid iteration of high-fidelity interactive prototypes, using HTML4/5, CSS2/3, and JQuery
- Experience using contemporary visual design tools, such as Photoshop or Fireworks
- Expert skill in building and testing cross-browser web UIs, including IE6
- Solid skill with Javascript, including JQuery and JQuery Mobile, with ability to build complex interactions and custom UI widgets
- Ability to build page renderings and interactions for UI display charts and graphs using Javascript, HTML and CSS
- Skill in designing and building web apps for single - and cross-form factor environments (smartphone, tablet, PC)
- Experience using PhoneGap
- Experience in hand-coding HTML, CSS and Javascript based on web standards and best practices for scalability and accessibility (Section 508, W3C accessibility standards).
- Solid skill in optimizing client side performance, through CSS optimization techniques and lazy loading
- Knowledge of contemporary rapid prototyping technologies and methods; web development
- Experience working in a collaborative, iterative UI requirements/design environment
- Software testing, including usability testing
- Project estimation
- Financial Services project experience
- Excellent communications skills, and ability to present work to interactive audiences
Highly Desirable Skills:
- Skills . Advance knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and jQuery . Experience simulating data in the UI using JSON . Experience maintaining global CSS file that is used in production . Expert knowledge of cross-browser HTML/CSS issues/limitations . Experience building custom, reusable UI components using jQuery . Experience with SVN and/or Git. . Experience coding for accessibility. Experience working in a large scale web operation team, in waterfall, iterative and agile models. Experience building responsive UI and jquery mobile platform.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum four (5) years experience in visual design and web design/development, using HTML, CSS, and Javascript
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, or related area. Equivalent work experience would be considered
- Financial Services experience is a must
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills a must
