APSL Software Engineer (Technology Development) Outsource Technical is recruiting for a Global Industry leader that is expanding its US development organization.  The foundation of its success has been delivering high customer value and highly innovative products. This position is an opportunity to join a team and develop technology to enable leadership in Imaging and Printing Group.  This position will be responsible for advancing the Multi-Function Device Open Platform to include more features/functionality as well as adopt new technologies. Candidate must have experience developing APIs and SDK for open platform, preferably in embedded environment.  Strong design and development experience is a key aspect of the job and the candidate must be able to provide subject matter expertise, while at the same time contribute hands-on to the implementation, test and documentation of the product.   Development skills must also include demonstrated use of UML and OOA as well as strong code development skills. This exciting role will also involve looking outside of the box at new technologies and will require the candidate to quickly learn, try various approaches and create prototypes to validate ideas before making recommendations for technology adoption. Candidate must be able to work well in team environment, ranging from a small local team to a large global team of overseas developers. Therefore, communication skills, both verbal and writing, problem solving and a proactive, winning attitude are paramount to the success of the projects. Job requires a bachelor's degree or higher and at least five years of related experience is required. Skills: Strong Java experience (SE) at least 5 yrs. Other languages (C/C++, C#, scripting, XML etc.) a plus. Experience with web technologies both server and client side and strong understanding of SOAP/REST web services, JavaScript, HTML5. Experience with open platforms including defining open platform APIs and usage of open platform. Experience in Open Source Code development. Experience in mobile frameworks, mobile SDKs a plus. Software architecture/design experience including usage of design tools, modeling tools, formal design review. Eclipse development tools experience Linux OS experience including embedded Linux Interest in new technologies and demonstrated ability to adopt to products Effective communication skills in small team environment as well as experience working with large global teams Experience in imaging and printing domain is desired

Software Development Engineer Core Responsibilities Quickly prototype new ideas/technologies to create proof of concept and demos Analyze TV code to find defects and make enhancements (e.g. AV playback, Trick play, DRM) Work with external partners and manage projects and support them in developing Apps on  TV Effectively communicate with global engineering teams  Requirements BS in Computer Science/Engineering or Electrical Engineering; MS preferred 3 to 8 years of experience in system level software development Solid C and C++ coding abilities (C++ skill is required) Linux/UNIX network development experience at the sockets API layer Development experience with any AV player components (e.g. Demuxer, parser, decoder, renderer, etc) Ability to multi-task effectively under considerable pressure and deadlines and easily adapt within a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and organizational skills Plus Experience with any VOD systems Familiar with various A/V codecs and formats (e.g. H.264, MPEG4 / mp4, mpg, ts, avi, etc) Familiar with network debugging tools (e.g. packet sniffers, protocol analyzers) Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery is a plus Working knowledge of digital TV related standards such as MPEG2, AVC, ATSC, Cable Standards, EPG metadata, or Related experience in CE industry specializing in digital video, audio, cable and broadcasting
