Position: Database Analyst / Development DBA

Location: Des Moines, IA

Duration: 18 months

Job Description:

The Database Analyst (DBA ) position is part of CORE's Data Development Group within the Consumer Lending Technology team.

Daily activities could include any/all of the following:

* Provides high technical expertise for the planning, analysis, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and control of the organization's server-class databases

* Handles and leads the most complex or critical data/database management initiatives.

* Consults with and advises senior management and multiple clients on high impact data or database management issues, influencing strategic direction

* Serves as a consultant on Oracle e-business related technological issues

* Provides oversight, mentoring and leadership to less experienced staff

* Perform Database functions based on Oracle 11g databases including performance tuning

* Perform Infrastructure support of various Oracle Database concepts, including but not limited to: connections, load balancing, failover, data guard, ASM, SQL tuning, scheduling

* Provide on-call support for production environment: including running patch, bug fix scripts, routine maintenance

* Install DBMS software and database patches

* Analyze and implement archiving, backup and monitoring strategies

* Provide proactive monitoring of the database instances, and take preventive steps to ensure high availability

* Create/maintain documentation of database installations and other DBM processes

* Partner with development teams to create a high volume transaction system

* Recommend best practice SQL tuning approaches to development groups

* Research and design database/infrastructure solutions for scalability based on business requirements

Basic Qualifications :

7+ years database design and administration experience.

Minimum Qualifications

7+ years of experience with Oracle technologies (partitioning, security, performance tuning, memory management, SQL tuning, statistics gathering, Application audit logs, Oracle RAC, Scheduling, etc.)

- 7+ years of experience in utilizing the performance tuning tools like Explain plan, AWR, Grid control or similar technologies.

Understand and interpret the reports generated from tools and action plan to overcome performance issues

- 5+ years of experience in backup and recovery, Application patching, cloning, maintenance and problem solving within the Oracle 10g or greater environment

- 5+ years of experience in leading and supporting upgrade activities within the Oracle 10g or greater environment

- Proven ability to troubleshoot and trace data related issues throughout the architecture

- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, retain, and apply good interpersonal skills, and perform effectively under time pressure are critical skills required for this position

- Excellent verbal and written communication

- Must be strong in analyzing how Oracle resources are being used during SQL executions

- Ability to write and maintain high quality documentation

Preferred Skills :

Oracle Database Administrator Certification 10g or 11g

Proven experience in an iterative development approach WFHM business knowledge is strongly preferred CORE Experience
