Description:
To provide technical product and math expertise for the purposes of developing, testing, and implementing illustration software and administration system modifications.
To provide internal and external product support by performing complex product calculations and manual calculations of non-system supported projections.
Analyzes assigned business unit's requirements, processes, workflows and systems by working with various business unit members to understand, document and interpret that analysis into comprehensive business requirements and/or solutions.
Accountabilities:
1. Develops sophisticated testing tools and test plans to test and verify the accuracy of illustrated values for new business and inforce illustrations as well as administration systems. Test tools are also used to verify the accuracy of annual statement lapse dates (life) as well as administration system values and are primarily derived from detailed specifications provided by the Product Development teams, external producers, contract language, the NAIC Life Insurance Illustrations Model Regulation, the NAIC Annuity Disclosure Model Regulation, and/or from archived product information. Test tool development requires Microsoft Excel and Access knowledge as well as Visual Basic experience.
2. Performs detailed technical product calculations, provides technical product expertise, and supports manually generated inforce illustrations for all of Aviva USA. Manual calculations may be used to corroborate the results of a system-generated report such as an annual statement, to manually create an accurate illustration directly from rate files, or to verify historical administration system policy values. Calculations performed will often be complex and non-routine, where analysis of each individual situation may be necessary to determine the appropriate solution.
3. Provides the illustration system vendor with the technical support required to develop the illustration software. This may include the packaging and transfer of rates and values in a format acceptable by the vendor. Communicates and provides the vendor the specifications for the determination of projected policy values, the calculations used for values being illustrated, the setup or requirements for functionality of the user interface, and the definition of the illustration format. This may require the incumbent to gather data on the inforce block, analyze data, and create functional requirement documentation.
4. Through the use of Visual Basic programming language develops automation tools for the purposes of extracting or loading product rates into administration systems, extracting policy data from administration systems, decreasing illustration software release lead times, and automating manual processes.
5. Develops and implements test plans for new products and changes/enhancements to existing products and performs testing to minimize production errors. Participates in the design of the user interface and illustration output. Responsible for testing of projected values, which may include coordination with other testing resources. Analyzes, debugs, and re-tests all components of the illustration software- reporting and documenting all outcomes and test conditions.
6. Leverages advanced technical product knowledge to lead and participate as part of a project team. As part of the project team, the Product Analyst II will conduct research to more fully understand business problems, perform costs analysis, conduct illustration system business case analysis, formulate solutions, assist project managers, and utilize product knowledge to influence decisions and implement changes to workflows. May provide guidance and leadership to less experienced team members in designing, testing, debugging, documenting, and implementing changes to new or existing illustration system applications and administration systems.
7. Participates in the development of tool automation for the Product Management Group as well as Insurance Operations for the purposes of extracting or loading product rates into administration systems, decreasing illustration software release lead times, and automating manual procedures. Development of said tools requires Microsoft Excel and Access knowledge as well as Visual Basic experience.
8. Assists in the development and maintenance of documentation on new and existing testing tools, software testing, and other departmental procedures. Also, provides administration system, illustration software, and product training as required, to include training at seminars or agent conventions and conferences.
