REQUIRMENT:

Position : Salesforce Developer

Location: Tempe AZ

Contract : 5+ month

Client Project Definition:

Overall Vision/ Scope of Catalog Project

As a company we need a single repository that can hold our course suite so that our courses can easily be shown in a catalog view (electronic or printable formats).  Course meta-data information such as descriptions, type of course, category, available dates, etc. should be visible/ available to view within this presented format and should be sortable/ filterable (or separate views should be available to show the different groupings of courses - sub-catalog views).

This catalog needs ability to be saved as PDF or printed. Courses that are under construction should also show in this catalog, which are not available within LMS. A bonus feature (may or may not be in scope) would be the ability to email the catalog file through the CRM system so that it is tracked what was sent to a client/ prospect and when. This project will replace the current "hand crafted" PDF style catalog today.

Technical Approach/ Recommendation:

Sales Force can be the primary and initial entry point for our Courses as Products.  The product module in Sales Force should enable features needed to support catalog data and much more.

Reports or custom views could be created to show the courses as a catalog view with ability to save/ email and print.  These view should be rendered in "print style" vs web style so they are printer friendly.

Technical Requirements:

·         Must work within the SalesForce.com framework.

·         The catalog should be available within SalesForce.com - available to any authenticated user.

·         Should utilize products as the core for courses (or justify why this should not be the case).  We are setting up products and product families to facilitate this.

·         Search fields identified will be need to be added as custom fields and/or fields associated to products as custom fields.

·         Project to fulfill requirements based on prototypes which includes:

o    Ability to Search against various criteria tied to courses

o    Results pages which include a. static content (legend/ directions), b. a listing of courses matching criteria, c. detailed course information

o    Ability to print the results pages

o    Ability to save results pages as PDF

o    Ability to email through Sales Force (may be optional)

·         Certain categories may be color coded or have icons representing the type of course.

·         A default sort criteria will be specified, however there may be functionality needed to sort by results criteria.

·         Solution should allow for courses to be used in other SalesForce areas including prospecting, contracts, ordering, etc. without custom programming in those areas.

Out of Scope for this phase:

·         There will be NO external web site to view the catalog initially. That will be determined in a future release.

·         There will be NO LMS integration in this phase. That can be addressed in a future phase.

·         For this phase the ability to email the catalog file through the CRM system is out of scope.

Actors/ Key Use Cases:

·         Sales - Ability to view, search, email and print a catalog

·         Advisory Services/ Production - Ability to enter/ update course information

·         Advisory Services/ Marketing - Ability to tag additional information to courses, print, search and view.

Skills required:

1) Perform light Business Analyst role to elicit, rationalize and document project requirements.  Rough requirements already exist - will need to refine.

2) Project Manage - Self manage project - including project plan, tasks, budget, client resources to ensure successful project execution and completion and achieve project goals within time and budget.

3) SalesForce Development - need to be able to code & implement solution to client's satisfaction.

4) QA - perform QA function to validate system operates according to specification and client's expectations.
