Enterprise Data Architect

Location: Toronto, Canada

Duration: 12 Month

Data Architect

A Data Architect is responsible for interpreting business needs into data requirements – including such attributes as naming standards, consistent data definitions, associated business rules, data sources, retention criteria, derivations, security restrictions, accessibility, reusability, currency, frequency of update, linkages, and integration. The Data Architect has both Line of Business (or Program) and project-related responsibilities. The Data Architect can also participate in projects as a Data Modeler.

Line of Business (or Program) responsibilities are to:

· Support analysis and documentation of consistent business policies, rules, and business terms, in an enterprise context (Enterprise can be the entire TDBFG, a Line of Business, program, or other group of TDBFG activities being generically modeled, for business understanding).

· Manage the Line of Business (or program) Data Architecture, including defining data subject area boundaries. Manage related metadata.

· Develop and publish Line of Business (or program) information models for viewing by anyone in the Line of Business.

· Maintain overall integrity and accuracy of the Data Architecture.

· Ensure alignment and consistency of the Data Architecture with the Enterprise Data Architecture.

· Identify and facilitate resolution of business rule conflicts between business areas.

· Review project information models to ensure conformance with data architecture standards and guidelines.

· Manage synchronization of information models and production data stores.

Project-related responsibilities are to:

· Support application development projects by developing the conceptual and logical data architecture (including data services, metadata management, data placement and information flows).

· Support application development projects developing conceptual and logical information models within the context of the Enterprise and Line of Business Data Architecture.

· Identify reuse opportunities for sharing existing models and implementations.

· Participate in the resolution of data quality and data integration issues.

· Provide projects with modeling expertise and guidance, and act as a resource for information about the Data Architecture.
