Data Modeler

Location – AZ

Rate - $55/hr on C2C

Visa Status:- GC/Citizen/TN

Duration – 6 months +

SUMMARY:

Experienced dimensional modeler responsible for requirements analysis and refinement, in depth source system analysis, modeling of normalized staging area, modeling of data marts, and documenting logic from source database to staging area and data marts. Experience tuning marts for performance, redesigning existing models, and creating models from stratch are all necessary functions.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

NOTE: The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or most of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbents’ performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents’ immediate supervisor or manager.

· Requirements gathering and analysis, including possible suggested enhancements versus what was originally requested

· Interact with business analysts and product analysts

· In depth source system analysis, finding the who, what, why, and where in a source database often with little assistance

· Model a normalized staging structure based on the source system

· Create dimensional models based not only on the original wants, but in anticipation of future needs

· Hold logical model reviews with all stakeholders including: business analysts, product owners, etl developers and modeling team to ensure the model meets the needs

· Provide logical data mapping from the source databases to the staging and dimensional models to be used by ETL team

· Strong familiarity with the data being populated in the new models in order to assist with quality assurance and serve as the subject matter expert for model

· Able to identify data quality issues and propose solution(s) necessary to fix and prevent the issue

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

· N/A

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

· Ability to go it alone on a project, learning the ins and outs of the source database with little assistance

· Strong understanding of structured query language (SQL)

· Provide out of the box ideas for handling data from multiple companies with different data defintions

· Strong writing skills necessary to provide rich comments in the modeled structures

· Work well with dimensional modelering team focusing on continual improvement of the models, modeling team processes, and overall skill level

· Interpersonal skills necessary to work across different teams with different personalities focused on customer service and producing an optimal solution

· Advanced knowledge of both Oracle and SQL server environments

· Implement index and partitioning strategies to optimize query performance

· Visual Basic skills in order to automate processes within Embarcadero ER/Studio

· Experience with Embarcadero ER/Studio or ERWIN modeling software

· Experience working in an agile data warehouse environment is a plus

· Education industry experience is preferred
