IBM Websphere MQ and Message Broker

WebSphere MQ & Message Broker Administration and Support

Location: Albany, NY

Start Date: 12/1/2011

End Date: 6/1/2013

 

This is an 18 month contract that could likely be extended

 

IMPORTANT: First interview will be a phone interview. If there is a second interview, there is a chance it may be an onsite/personal interview. Overview:

The candidate will work as a member of the Integrated Justice Messaging Team and support WebSphere MQ Series and Message Broker on Linux and AIX platforms. The candidate will support both the Integrated Justice Portal and DCJS messaging systems. 7 x 24 on-call support is provided by team members on a weekly rotating basis. Responsibilities include:

 

• Administration, troubleshooting and configuration of WebSphere MQ and Message Broker.

• MQ Series channel and queue configuration, queue manager administration, and testing.

• Modifying Java programs that utilize messaging via MQ.

 

Candidate must have good communication skills and be able to work as a project team member. Interaction with other System Administration, Networking and Application Programming staff will also be required. Understanding how the various MQ components interface with external customers and internals applications is required. A thorough understanding of Message Broker flows is also required.

 

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE

CANDIDATES NOT MEETING ALL OF THE MANDATORY EXPERIENTIAL REQUIREMENTS BELOW WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION

Eight (8) years of experience supporting IT systems.

Five (5) years of experience with WebSphere MQ Series administration including software installation, upgrades, channel and queue configuration and maintenance, overall system trouble-shooting and MQ clustering design and management.

Four (4) years minimum experience with Websphere Message Broker administration including installation, support, configuration, message flow deployments and troubleshooting.

 

ASSOCIATED SKILL SETS

Candidates must also have three (3) of the preferred skilled sets listed below.

Two (2) years experience using HACMP

Software including installation and configuration of MQ in a high availability environment.

Experience administering Websphere Application Server.

Experience administering Websphere Portal.

At least three (3) years of experience working in UNIX.

Knowledge of TCP/IP to assist with troubleshooting MQ problems.

Ability to work well as a team member.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
