TITLE: Telematics system engineer
LOCATION: USA-Peoria, IL
DURATION: 12 months

DESCRIPTION:

This job will be a contract position on a very fast paced and technically challenging Information Products team within the Electronics & Systems Integration Division of Caterpillar. This team is responsible for the end to end telematics system (equipment monitoring and tracking) including project management, end to end data flow, and integration with other Caterpillar systems. This position will be physically located in Peoria/Mossville.

Tasks will include writing system design specifications, functional specifications, and test documents; involved in NPI and Six Sigma development projects, interfacing with internal and external suppliers, and supporting technical issues with the product. The person will also be involved in documenting business logic for transforming data to information useful for our Customers, Dealers, and internal Caterpillar organizations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, information technology or equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years experience in the development of complex systems
- Ability to work in a team environment, communicating technical information and development progress to team members and others
- Knowledge of machine or engine systems, controls or information architectures
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Experience developing requirements documents from customers' needs statement
- Experience converting customer requirements to technical specifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills

Highly Desired:
- Experience with machine health/monitoring systems.
- Familiar with the design, analysis, and test of embedded control systems
- Experience leading projects
- Custom communications protocol experience (ie. TCP/IP, RS232/RS485)
- Microsoft Office Suite including Visio
- 6-Sigma
