Computer Firmware Engineers
Responsibilities
§ Use C (primarily) and Assembly programming languages to develop firmware (BIOS/UEFI) for industry leading computer technology products.
§ Work as part of a team to contribute to and pioneer the use of new technologies, approaches, and innovation for BIOS/UEFI development according to various technology standards (e.g. UEFI, ACPI, USB, SMBIOS, and PCI/PCI-express).
§ Analyze issues with existing products and recode as needed for debugging, performance improvements, etc.
§ Liaise with Software Architects, PMs, QA, and other technical team members to understand, prioritize, and respond to various development projects.
Requirements
§ At least 5 years of C programming language experience developing computer firmware / BIOS.
§ At least 2 years of Assembly and Perl programming experience is preferred.
§ Strong understanding of computer hardware and OS architecture (Windows and Linux).
§ Knowledge of microcontrollers, embedded systems programming, and ARM architectures.
§ Knowledge of industry standards including UEFI, ACPI, USB, SMBIOS, and PCI/PCI-express.
Education: A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc. is preferred, but not required.
Location Houston, TX (north)
Hours 8am-5pm (flexible, but with core daytime hours required); Mon - Fri
Length Ongoing assignment - written in 6 and/or 12 mo SOW's - expected to last several years (i.e. it's not just a project that will be completed in a few months - this is ongoing, sustaining work).
