Job Title: DB2 DBA

Location: Englewood, CO

Duration: 6-12 months

Major focus on Strong DB2 DBA(UDB) with Knowledge of Data modeling

Oracle experience a plus

Database platforms in AIX

• Senior database administrator/ Database architect to work with application teams to deliver advanced database solutions.
• Thought leader capable of advancing database architecture and also a hands-on DBA willing to perform application DBA duties.
• Analyze design, create, implement and configure databases including backup, recovery, security and high availability solutions.
• Analyze database changes, communicate with teams on change impact and implement database changes.
• Lead full cycle database application development from requirements through logical/physical modeling and implementation.
• Support database driven applications – both vendor and purpose built.

Required Skills
• 7+ years of DB2 UDB/LUW 9.x or later /Oracle 10g or later Database Administration experience, preferably both database platforms in AIX/Linux operating system platforms. Must have demonstrated experience in one of these database platforms.
• Must have demonstrated experience supporting high speed transactional or large volume analytics databases/data warehouses.
• Must be able to identify performance bottlenecks around database, server, storage and network, application servers pertaining to database scope.
• In-depth database development experience, writing SQL, PL/SQL, analyzing query access paths, BIND/REBIND/Compile, Shell/Perl scripting, Database support for JDBC/JDO/XML data services.
• Must have strong working knowledge of one or more of HA technologies- HADR, RAC, PureScale
• Must have some experience in development/support of ETL, BI and datamarts.
• Strong data modeling experience using tools like ERWIN.
• Good communication, self-directed and passionate about delivering next generation architecture.
• Must be able to work in fast-paced team environment.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in Hadoop technologies and TeraData or similar platforms, in addition to DB2/Oracle a plus.
• Experience in Database change control, deployments and release management process and tools to manage risk in a high availability environment.
• Experience in Database encryption and SSL (e.g. Oracle TDE, RSA Lockbox etc.).
• Experience in XML/Web Services based Data services
• Experience in agile or iterative development methodology desired.

Willing to fill 1 as Oracle DBA and another DB2 , but both are not just administrators, but database architects.

- Each candidate should position into one of the above slots clearly, showcasing the particular experience.

- Required skills are must have, while desired can be flexible. If candidate is exceptionally well in other areas, can consider relaxing. Such questions have to be forwarded with justifications.
