Role: Network Security Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 6+ month
Network Security Engineer for a large enterprise environment in North Houston. The Security Engineer will be supporting PIX / ASA environment. The qualified candidate will also have a strong background in networking, network hardware, routing protocols and Wide Area Networks.
Duties will include firewall installs and or decommissions, software upgrades on devices, developing maintaining documentation for compliance of converted devices.
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR A QUALIFICATION:
- Need to understand TCP/IP networking layers 2 & 3
- Understand different security zones
- Define and write department procedures
- Cisco PIX / ASA firewalls
- Must be able to determine if APARS apply to our device inventory and our configurations.
- Apply security fix workarounds and code upgrades
- Cisco IOS / CatOS
- Apply security fix workarounds and code upgrades
- Checkpoint / nokia
- Apply security fix workarounds and code upgrades
FIREWALL QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of stateful firewall behavior and management (Juniper, Cisco, Checkpoint/Nokia, etc Knowledge of VPN settings, behavior, and troubleshooting (non-vendor specific) Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and behaviors through a network and specific devices (primarily firewalls) Knowledge of the OSI model (what occurs at each layer, and what devices operate at each layer)
2 -3 years of hands on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining firewalls (multiple vendors)
2 -3 years implementing and troubleshooting site-to-site VPNs (IPSeC, etc and ability to explain hashing and encryption schemas Knowledge of using TCPDUMP and other trace tools (some built-in vendor specific) to pinpoint issues
