Role: Teradata DBA
Location: (WILMINGTON, Delaware
Contract Length: 6 month
Accountable for Change Management, Incident and Problem management reporting and analysis, creation and maintenance of Service Level Agreements, management communication, client relationship management with assigned application areas, and/or coordination of multiple staff involved in internal/external customer file transmission implementations. Responsible for coaching and mentoring less experienced team members as well as overall team management responsibilities. Functional knowledge of the application(s) supported and interdependencies. This individual may lead several teams that may cross project boundaries, but typically will be responsible for both deliverables and projects.
7+ years experience as an Teradata DBA in a production environment highly desired
Experience with SQL Server and/or DB2 UDB is a plus
- Solid and proven skills in managing database lifecycles - builds, patching, backups, recoveries, tuning
- Strong familiarity with industry-standard monitoring, backup, and security tools
- Experience with Viewpoint, TASM, PDCR and DBQL technologies
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 database support
Monitor incident ticket queue and troubleshoot and resolve database incidents within SLAs
Monitor backup results and resolve/troubleshoot failed database backups
Monitor storage capacity and consumption, trend long term usage, and proactively work with Architecture group to plan capacity
expansion
Monitor database and server performance and identify current and future potential bottle-necks - PDCR & DBQL
Review, maintain, and periodically test database recovery procedures
Monitor violations discovered by security compliance tool and remediate issues as needed
Review and support the installation of database maintenance & security patches and upgrade databases to supported release levels
Support application upgrades of third party software, where a database is a part of the vendor's implementation
Configure and maintain Viewpoint and TASM
Maintain documentation store of DBA operational policies and procedures
