The Assistant Systems Administrator will be responsible for delivery of enterprise desktop solutions for cleint computing environments, as well as the design and implementation of automated solutions to increase the efficiency of the desktop environment and reduce issues. They will also be working to develop hardware and software standards to meet the current and future needs of the business; evaluate hardware platforms and develop enterprise base images.
 
  • Knowledge of a patch management process for Windows based operating systems.
  • Maintain software inventory and version control.
  • Knowledge of application repackaging utilizing tools such as Wise Package Studio.
  • Utilize software distribution techniques with Microsoft SCCM (Systems Center Configuration Manager) to plan and direct rollouts of desktop software and coordinate the execution of the rollout with appropriate Infrastructure Services and Application Development & Support Team Members.
 
Roles & Responsibilities
Respond to customer application problems by identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
· Assist users to ensure customers have knowledge of operations as it relates to the network and/or personal computer.
  • Assist with the evaluation of personal computer hardware and software to determine efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain software documentation, guidelines, and installation procedures to facilitate ongoing support and maintenance.
  • Work with other departments to test, schedule, monitor, and participate in the installation of all other non-image  software, updates, and upgrades.
  • Test and configure desktop software to ensure efficient operation in a Windows environment.
  • Actively participate in the IS Service Desk by Assisting with 24/7 support to answer customer
  • questions or identify and assist in resolving system problems in a timely and efficient manner to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Assist in evaluating and determining hardware and software configuration standards for the company.
  • Maintain cognizance of all internal standards and procedures, industry trends and new technologies to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to information, assets, or restricted areas and report any attempts.
  • Work in collaboration with the Infrastructure Services team to identify automated enhancements and/or solutions that support the companies desk top infrastructure strategies.
  • Obtain comparative bids from vendors in order to determine the best value for purchase price.
  • Report any type of problems or potential problems to the appropriate management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain effective communications with team members.
